Introduction to the Link Editor
High-Level Architecture
The Link editor is a tool that allows you to add interactions between components in a graphical display, turning your boards into a unified executable workspace. Linking components means designing the workflow for a board or for a workspace if components from different boards are linked together.
A component is represented in the Link Editor as a box with incoming actions and outgoing events, as shown below:
An interaction between components is performed through a link. A link connects a source component and a receiver component. When a user performs an action in the source component, an event is triggered and sent to the correspondent action in the receiver component. The receiver component provides a handler for the event and executes an action as a response.
Link Editor Elements
You can access the Link editor from the top navigation bar or, if not visible, drag and drop it from the UXP tools hub into the navigation bar.
When the Link editor is on, the following elements are available on the design area:
- Link Configuration Panel - contains the list of existing links.
- Component Bar - contains a collection of available components that can be added to boards.
- Platform - contains actions and events to link with components.
